Juárez 1994

David grew up in the border city of Juárez, Mexico, where he found an early passion for drawing and design. Juárez became the world’s most violent city during the height of Mexico’s drug war (2008–2010), and he found a safe haven in the graphic arts, to escape reality.

Juárez 2010-2012

While attending El Chamizal High School as a student, the most awarded public school in the state of Chihuahua, David volunteered to be an Art teacher for two years. In 2012, he won his first state design award for Best Billboard in the Chihuahua Vive competition.

El Paso 2014-2018

David graduated with honors in 2018 from the University of Texas at El Paso with a BFA in Graphic Design. As a student, he earned several awards, including the 2017 Views of UTEP and a 2018 Honorable Mention from Craig Frazier in the Juried Student Art Show. He also worked for four years as an in-house graphic and web designer for Residence Life and Academic Technologies.

New York City 2018

After graduating, David moved to New York City. As an immigrant, arriving with no job and no connections, made things extremely difficult, but he soon landed a design role at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS! A leading nonprofit that supports people affected by HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses across the U.S. There, he created design materials for major events, including Playbills, print ads, and social media campaigns.

Covid 2020-2023

Everything was falling into place—David had his dream job and had finally settled in New York City. But when the pandemic hit, he was unable to renew his work visa and had to leave the country. What initially felt like a major setback became a turning point. As a digital nomad, he began traveling the world and discovered new opportunities.
During this time, he joined Omneky.com as a Lead Graphic Designer, where he created over 500 static and motion ads for clients including the NFL. He implemented AI tools to develop creative assets for campaigns and led a team of six designers, providing strategic direction and support.

Present Day

After traveling extensively and experiencing life in many countries, David eventually chose to return to Mexico City with his wife. He now works remotely as a Graphic, Web, and Motion Designer for Lumina, where he has been for the past two years. In this role, he designs dynamic video templates using After Effects and Canva for major clients such as Amazon and FedEx. He also manages and maintains the visual design of the company’s website and leverages AI tools to resize, enhance, and expand images for use in video content.
